Job Opening - Lead Organizer

Are you a progressive looking to make a change at the local level? The People's Campaign (TPC) is now hiring two part-time Lead Organizers (20-30 hour per week, to start) in the Central Kentucky (Fayette, Franklin, Scott, Madison, and Clark Counties), Northern Kentucky (Kenton, Campbell, and Boone Counties) and Louisville (Jefferson) areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and engage directly with voters in targeted areas

  • Ensure responsible and proper handling of voter file, Vote Builder and VAN data

  • Recruit and engage activists/volunteers/paid canvassers.

  • Foster continuing growth and activity in local grassroots teams and with local activists

  • Build relationships with stakeholders and volunteers

  • Track activity of grassroots volunteer teams

  • Help organize canvassing events, phone banks, various campaign events, etc.

  • Provide regular reports to TPC leadership

  • Meet goals and complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner

  • Explore opportunities for engagement and cooperation with issue specific, ethnic, and religious coalition groups

  • Additional duties as requested by TPC leadership

Qualifications:

  • Independent and self-motivated

  • Passionate/Energetic

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Able to work flexible hours, evenings and/or weekends

  • Strong social skills, positive attitude, and dedication to progressive causes

  • Ability to speak with groups and host meetings

  • Ability to build and foster relationships with volunteers

  • Creative problem solving

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other basic computer skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate with paid canvassers and unpaid staff

  • Strong community ties 

  • Prior community organizing experience ( paid or volunteer)  

  • VAN experience 

  • Preferred MiniVan experience  


Compensation:

  • $18-20/hour

  • 20-30 hours per week
